Bill Webster


Bill is a founder of Scentovation and the co-inventor of the Whispi™ scent dispenser device. He has extensive experience in early-stage venture activities as an investor, founder and consultant. Bill has worked with commercial ventures dealing with hydrophilic polyurethane (HPU) for 10 years, including one issued patent and one pending. He has over 20 years of experience as a consultant and principal with new venture companies based in Maine, in particular with the financing and early-stage organization of technically based companies. Bill has a B.A. from Amherst College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Tim Thomson


Tim is known worldwide for his expertise in the development of a broad range of products based on hydrophilic polyurethane (HPUR). He has authored four books and numerous papers on the use of polyurethanes in medical and consumer applications and has spoken on the subject at a number of conferences and seminars. With a master's degree in chemistry from Michigan Technological University, Tim began his career at Dow® Chemical and currently holds seven patents in synthetic chemistry and process control. Tim is currently the director of Main Street Technologies, with which he pursues his personal research goals.

Peter Van Alstine


Peter’s 20 years of general management, marketing, sales, business development and product management experience have given him deep expertise in building both offline and online businesses. This experience ranges from large companies such as Procter & Gamble to cofounding Silicon Valley startup While at P&G, he developed a working knowledge of the scent industry during a one-year assignment with the Giorgio Beverly Hills® fine fragrance brand. Peter received a B.A. at Dartmouth and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

John Coleman


John founded The VIA Agency in 1993 and has been the Portland, Maine-based agency's CEO since then. The agency was named Ad Age's Small Agency of the Year in 2011 and was twice on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies. John and the agency have tackled some of the most difficult marketing challenges in the industry, working with leading brands like Samsung, Unilever, Disney®, Perdue Farms, Welch's®, DuPont, The World Trade Center, Ramano's Macaroni Grill® and LoJack, to name just a few. John holds both an M.B.A. and a B.S. in mechanical engineering and also writes a blog for Fast Company.

Julia Brady


Julia is a seasoned marketing strategist who excels at collaborating closely with clients to solve complex marketing and communications challenges. Her experiences include strategic marketing, brand marketing, online marketing, consumer marketing, management consulting, public relations and sports marketing for a wide range of brands. Prior to VIA she spent four years in McKinsey’s marketing practice consulting with numerous Fortune 500 companies. She also spent several years working in sports marketing with the America’s Cup and Advantage International. Julia earned a B.A. degree from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
